A two storey building designed to complement the Edwardian host house in every detail and including double garage, utility room, family room, with dependent relative’s living accommodation on the first floor. The brief was to demolish a 1930s bungalow and replace it with a modern energy efficient house that also met the stringent requirements of the Peak District National Park. The design incorporated underfloor heating powered by solar panels and an air source heat pump. The garage is connected to the house under the lawn to provide a safe entrance. The Square is a listed building completed in 1806. This apartment occupies the second and third floors of one of the original six houses.
